Acceleration Explorer is an open source application that allowseducators, developers, hobbyists and folks who are just curious toexplore their devices acceleration sensor. Another limitation to keep inmind is thesample rate. An ISO 15765-4 (CAN) vehicle with a qualityOBD2module can produce sample rates upwards of 15Hz(15samples/second). Older vehicles without CAN might only see 5Hzorless and cheap OBD2 modules from China can make it worse. Itwouldnot be advisable to use *any* OBD2 based application to tuneboost,timing or air fuel ratio. To tune your vehicle safely, youwouldneed specialized software and hardware for your vehiclethatimplements the manufacturers proprietary protocols that aredesignfor very high data transfer rates, not an OBD2 systemprimarilyintended for emissions diagnostics. Be aware that a numberof thecheap OBD2 modules I have tested only support ISO 1941-2 andISOCAN 15765-4 despite claiming support for J1850 and ISO 14230-4.Inaddition, many of these OBD2 modules send frames thatareincorrectly formed or contain garbage characters. While I havemadea great effort to get Force OBD2: Diagnostic Edition to workwiththe more popular violators, I don't have fixes for all of them.Iwould encourage users to spend more and purchase genuine ELM327orSTN devices from reputable companies.
