Description

Three activities for kids to practise anddevelop their addition skills. All the games have different levels, starting with adding to make totals up to 10 and progressing tototals up to 20. They are designed for children who are alreadyfamiliar with written numerals.

Parachute the right number of shedlings to make a target total.Watch them land on a number track and work out how many more areneeded to make the target number. Get it right 5 times and you'llbe rewarded with a bonus game that exercises your memory andcounting as you copy the shedlings' jumping patterns.

Add pairs of numbers and control a robot hand to catch a ballshowing their total. See the written sum and hear it being spoken.Show counters if needed to help find the answer. Get the correcttotal 5 times to play the bonus game.

Test your addition skills in four different timed challenges -two for totals up to 10 and two for totals between 11 and 20. Theseinclude 'missing number' questions such as 3 + ? = 9 and all fourgames save high scores so you can come back and try to beat yourbest.

Although the games are designed to be used independently by achild, the parachute game also lends itself to an adult playingwith the child and setting various challenges. For example, theadult and child could take turns, with one selecting the firstnumber of shedlings to launch and the second working out how manymore are needed, swapping who goes first. Also, by tapping thewindsock rather than the next button, the same target number willbe repeated which gives opportunity for questions such as 'Can youmake that number a different way?' or 'Can you make that using twolots of the same number?'.

Know your shapes 1.0 APK
shedlings
An educational and entertaining app foryoungkids to learn about shapes while playing with the shedlings.Five activities help kids become familiar with a number ofcommonshapes and their names. All shape names that appear onscreen can bespoken. Settings allow this to happen automaticallyor only when thechild taps the shape's name - so a child cansimply listen and learnthe names of the shapes or they can saywhat they think a shape isbefore hearing its name. The five activities are:Watch and hear a shedling as it draws out a shape line byline. Can you guess what the shape is before it is complete? Thesides ofthe shape play sounds that are related to their lengths andtheshedling giggles at each corner, so you can play an eyesclosedgame and try to guess the shape by sound alone.Play with differently shaped fishes and see theirdifferentlyshaped bubbles. The bubbles grow and rotate as theyfloat upthrough the water. Can you still say what the shapes areeven whenthey are different sizes and at different angles? Have funmakingand popping bubbles. An option allows bubbles to say theirshapesas they are popped.Pick the shape that is the same type as the shedling. Canyourecognise the shapes even when they don't match theshedlingexactly? What about when they are at an angle? Each set ofshapescontains a range of sizes and proportions where possible -forexample, there are differently proportioned rectanglesandtriangles.Use the picture maker to play with shapes and exploretheirrelationships with each other. What pictures, patterns anddesignscan you make? Snapping to position helps little hands lineup theshapes.Put the cut up pieces of a shape together to see what youget. Can you tell what the shape is before it is completed? Can youtelljust by looking at the pieces? All activities in this app need a long press on the buttonthatreturns the app to the menu screen. This is so that childrenwhobump into the button accidentally don't shoot straight out oftheactivity, which could be particularly upsetting when usingthepicture maker.
