Description

"The ""Traditional"" Schools Aikikai The Aikikai is the common namefor the style headed by Moriteru Ueshiba, O Sensei's grandson, astaught under the auspices of the International Aikido Federation. Most regard this school as the mainline in Aikido development. Inreality, this ""style"" is more of an umbrella than a specificstyle, since it seems that many individuals within the organizationteach in quite a different manner. The Aikido taught by UeshibaSensei is generally large and flowing, with an emphasis on astandard syllabus and little or no emphasis on weapons training.Other teachers within the auspices of the Aikikai (like SaitoSensei) place much more emphasis on weapons practice. Iwama-ryu Thestyle taught by Morihiro Saito, based in the Iwama dojo, isgenerally considered sufficiently stylistically different frommainstream Aikikai that it is named individually, even though itstill is part of the Aikikai. Saito Sensei was a long timeuchideshi of O Sensei, beginning in 1946 and staying with himthrough his death. Many consider that Saito Sensei was the studentwho spent most time directly studying with O Sensei Saito Senseisays he is trying to preserve and teach the art exactly as it wastaught to him by the Founder. Technically, Iwama-ryu seems toresemble the Aikido O Sensei was teaching in the early 50s mainlyin the Iwama dojo. The technical repertoire is larger than in mostother styles and a great deal of emphasis is placed on weaponstraining. The ""Ki"" Schools One of the most noticeable splits inthe Aikido world occurred in 1974 when Koichi Tohei, then the ChiefInstructor at the Aikikai, resigned from that organization andfounded the Ki no Kenkyukai to teach Aikido with strong emphasis onthe concepts of Ki. Since that time, there has been littleinteraction between the traditional schools and the Ki schools. Allof these arts tend to refer to themselves as Ki Aikido, even thoughthere is little contact between some of the styles."

"The cerebrum is connected by the brainstem to the spinal cord. Thebrainstem consists of the midbrain, the pons, and the medullaoblongata. The cerebellum is connected to the brainstem by pairs oftracts. Within the cerebrum is the ventricular system, consistingof four interconnected ventricles in which cerebrospinal fluid isproduced and circulated. Underneath the cerebral cortex are severalimportant structures, including the thalamus, the epithalamus, thepineal gland, the hypothalamus, the pituitary gland, and thesubthalamus; the limbic structures, including the amygdala and thehippocampus; the claustrum, the various nuclei of the basalganglia; the basal forebrain structures, and the threecircumventricular organs. The cells of the brain include neuronsand supportive glial cells. There are more than 86 billion neuronsin the brain, and a more or less equal number of other cells. Brainactivity is made possible by the interconnections of neurons andtheir release of neurotransmitters in response to nerve impulses.Neurons form elaborate neural networks of neural pathways andcircuits. The whole circuitry is driven by the process ofneurotransmission. The brain is protected by the skull, suspendedin cerebrospinal fluid, and isolated from the bloodstream by theblood–brain barrier. However, the brain is still susceptible todamage, disease, and infection. Damage can be caused by trauma, ora loss of blood supply known as a stroke. The brain is susceptibleto degenerative disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, "
Wing Chun 1.1.2 APK

"A Holistic System of Training Proper training in Wing Chun does, however, build both a high degree of physical fitness as well asmental focus. Consistent practice develops extraordinarysensitivity, balance, endurance and coordination. Through the formstraining you will learn to quiet your mind and focus yourattention. Perhaps most importantly, you will learn to relax andunwind tension from the body, bringing yourself into a naturalstate of structural stability and intrinsic strength. This emphasison structure and relaxed, intrinsic strength is part of what allowsa normal-sized person to effectively defend against a bigger, stronger attacker. The other part of that equation is that WingChun cheats. As you'll learn as you dig into the concepts andprinciples, Wing Chun is sneaky. It assumes that you are beingassaulted without warning, at high speed, and with shockingviolence. Wing Chun trains for a simple reflex response tointerrupt the attack, get the attacker off balance, and put thefight on your terms. Other systems block and then attack; Wing Chundefends and attacks simultaneously. Other systems draw back orchamber their punches before they strike; Wing Chun hits withoutwarning from any position. Other systems require a wind-up togenerate force; Wing Chun uses the structure of the entire body tocreate power in a small space. Other systems trade strikes back andforth until one fighter is either knocked out or takes sufficientcumulative damage; Wing Chun turns on like a chainsaw and doesn'tstop delivering damage until the assault has been effectivelyended."
Audible Free Books 1.1.2 APK

"Find an audiobook read to an audience. This is very specific, soI’ll direct you to a lovely reading of The Graveyard Book, by NeilGaiman. It was filmed on one of Gaiman’s book tours, and it was thefirst complete audiobook I listened to. The reason I found thislive version more enthralling than the recorded audio, is becauseit almost feels that you are part of that audience. You’llempathise with the reactions of the crowd, which will make youinteract more with the story as well. Find a biography or atechnical book. I’ve spent countless hours listening, among others,to Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler, Bruce Springsteen, and Trevor Noah, finding out interesting details about people I admire as if theywere by my side, telling me their life story. I learned aboutneuroscience, about writing, about the susceptibility of the humanmind. I wouldn’t have read these books if it wasn’t for their audioform, and they’re one of the easiest things to listen to becauseyou’re not only being told a story, you are also gathering newinformation, so your mind is entertained and will stay focused moreeasily."
