The Belgian Shepherd (also known as the Belgian Sheepdog orChiende Berger Belge) is a breed of medium-to-large-sized herdingdog. Itoriginated in Belgium and is similar to other sheep herdingdogsfrom that region, including the Dutch Shepherd Dog, theGermanShepherd Dog, the Briard, and others. Four types havebeenidentified by various registries as separate breeds orvarieties:Groenendael, Laekenois, Tervuren, and Malinois.

Fun Facts : All varieties share a similarunderlyingmusculoskeletal structure. The Beligian's height from theground totop of the withers is roughly equal to its length (notcounting thetail). It thus has a square build in comparison to theGermanShepherd, which has shorter hindlegs but is otherwisesimilar. Allvariants also share close cranial features, having adomedforehead, a long, square-cut muzzle and black noses, withtheirears pointed and fully erect.
