What is e-bluey?
When the British Forces are deployed on operations they areentitledto free aerogrammes (colloquially known as "blueys"because of theircolour) to and from their families and friends.This service hasbeen in place for a considerable time. Blueys aswe know them todaywere issued for the first time during the earlydays of the NorthernIreland deployment. More recently BFPO,working in conjunction withSuperLetter.com, has pioneered anelectronic form of the bluey knownas ‘e-bluey'.

The e-bluey is a Hybrid mail system that allowsservicepersonnel, relatives and friends to maintain a personal andprivatecontact with each other while serving on operations orexercise formore than 60 days duration. Probably the most importantfactor isthat the system is two way. This means those servicepersonnel withaccess to the Internet can send e-bluey letters backhome.

Who is entitled to use the service?
Family and friends of HM Forces or MOD civilians, serving atanoperational location or exercise overseas, are entitled to usethee-bluey service.
