The history of Black Cumin or Hei zhong cao
It all started more than two thousand years, the ancientEgyptiansknew and used the black seed that described it as apanacea (curefor problems and diseases). Tutankhamun even had abottle of theoil in his tomb!
Prophet Muhammad Sallallaahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam, said: "Intheblack cumin healing for all diseases except death."(Bukhari,Muslim).
The Romans also knew this seed and called it Greek CorianderorNigella sativa and used it as a dietary supplement.
In the first century, the Greek physician Dioscoridesrecordedthat the black seed or black cumin were taken to treatheadaches,nasal congestion, toothache and intestinal worms.
The black seed is also mentioned in the Bible in isaiah28:25-27as the ‘Fitch’. Ibn Senna, known in the West as Avicenna,who wrotethe great medical treatise 'The Canon of Medicine',referred to theblack seed as the seed ‘that stimulates the body'senergy and helpsrecovery from fatigue’.
