A few notes:
➊ You might not be able to connect to the phone if you're not onwifi. It depends on your carrier, but many of them block incomingnetwork access.

➌ If you use a third party app for texting, they might block textsfrom going to other apps. To fix this:
Handcent: Go to Settings > Application Settings > DefaultMessaging application > Disable
GO SMS: Menu > Settings > Advanced > Receive Settings >Uncheck "Disable other message notification"
MIUI: Settings > Uncheck "System MMS app priority"
Other: Poke around in the advanced settings for a similarsetting.
