CFA Institute is a global association of investmentprofessionals.The organization offers the Chartered FinancialAnalyst (CFA)designation, the Certificate in Investment PerformanceMeasurementdesignation, and the Claritas InvestmentCertificate
The CFA Program includes a series of three exams; Levels I, II,andIII. The exams:
- Are offered annually — at test centers around the world — onthefirst Saturday in June. The Level I exam is also offeredinDecember.
- Must be passed sequentially.
- Are available in English only.
The exam content, learning focus, and question format increaseincomplexity with each level.
Curriculum Content and Learning Focus: An example showingtheincrease in complexity is the ethical and professionalstandardscurriculum content. This content is similar for each examlevel;however, candidates are asked different types ofquestions:
- Level I tests your knowledge of the ethical andprofessionalstandards.
- Level II tests how you apply those standards tosituationsanalysts face.
- Level III tests how you apply the standards in aportfoliomanagement and compliance context.
In general:
Level I exams consist of basic knowledge and comprehensionquestionsfocused on investment tools; some questions willrequireanalysis.
Level II exams emphasize more complex analysis, along with afocuson valuing assets.
Level III exams require synthesis of all the concepts andanalyticalmethods in a variety of applications for effectiveportfoliomanagement and wealth planning.

This prestigious credential is offered by the CFAInstitute,formerly known as the Association of InvestmentManagement andResearch (AIMR).
