Jimmy Cliff, OM born James Chambers; 1April1948 is a Jamaican ska & reggaemusician,multi-instrumentalist, singer and actor. He is the onlylivingmusician to hold the Order of Merit, the highest honour thatcan begranted by the Jamaican government for achievements in thearts andsciences.
Cliff is best known among mainstream audiences for songs suchas"Wonderful World, Beautiful People", "Many Rivers to Cross","YouCan Get It If You Really Want", "The Harder They Come","ReggaeNight" and "Hakuna Matata", and his covers of Cat Stevens'"WildWorld" and Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now" from the filmCoolRunnings. He starred in the film The Harder They Come, whichhelpedpopularize reggae across the world,and Club Paradise. Cliffwas oneof five performers inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall ofFame in2010.
