The Chihuahua mix or Chihuahua is a dog breed originatinginMexico. Is named after the Mexican state of Chihuahua, where hewasdiscovered. The history of the breed is uncertain, however it is oftensaidthat a race of Mexico. The Chihuahuas are best known for their small size andlong,straight ears and short fur. The AKC (American KennelClub)recognizes two varieties of Chihuahuas: the long hair andshorthair. Many short-haired Chihuahuas have very thin hair, butothershave a very dense, thick hair.

Raising standards for this dog do not generally specify aheight,only a weight and a description of their overallproportions. As aresult, height varies more than within many otherbreeds.Generally, the height ranges between 15 and 25 cm (six teninches)at the withers. Either way, some dogs grow to 30 to 38 cm(twelveto fifteen inches). AKC show dogs must weigh no more than2.7 kg (6lbs) FCI standards mark that dogs should weigh between 1.5and 3 kg(3.3 to 6.6 lb), although smaller ones are acceptable intheshow.
