The tricky part is that all galaxies have to be "spirals" moreor less; they have to have 2-fold rotational symmetry. In otherwords, if you rotate a galaxy 180 degrees it should look exactlythe same as it did before the rotation. This means that if youexpand or shrink one end of the galaxy its counterpart at the otherside of the galaxy will also expand or shrink.
The "Spiral Galaxies" puzzle type was invented by the Japanesepuzzle magazine Nikoli (the guys behind the famous Sudoku puzzletype). The Japanese name for "Spiral Galaxies" is "Tentai Show".The Japanese name is a play on words where "Ten" means dot,"tai-Show" stands for symmetry and "Tentai" is "astronomicalthings".
In the original game play you draw/erase the walls of thegalaxies around their centers (represented by dots). In thisWinterdust version of the puzzle the cells that touch a center(represented by a circle) is converted to a galaxy at the start ofthe game and you then expand/shrink the galaxies by dragging itsedges.
