2.中文羅馬拼音使用規定：
(1).我國中文譯音除另有規定外，以漢語拼音為準。
(2).護照姓名譯寫格式依外交部發布之護照條例施行細則規定，護照外文姓名及英文戶籍謄本姓名譯音，鼓勵使用漢語拼音。
(3).海外華語教學原則，除使用注音符號者外，涉及採用羅馬拼音者，以採用漢語拼音為原則。
(4).其他中文譯音，除國際通用或特定詞、約定俗成者（如我國歷史朝代、地名、傳統習俗及文化名詞）外，以漢語拼音為準。
3.中華民國的中文羅馬拼音系統為國際上較流通的漢語拼音（2009年至今）。在2009年以前，政府曾採用國語羅馬字（1928年－1985年）、國語注音符號第二式（國音第二式，1986－2002年）、通用拼音（2002－2008年），與上述幾個官方系統並行的，是大體上已使用數十年的WadeGiles拼音（韋式拼音）。
4.目前教育部規範地名、街道名、人名均以漢語拼音翻譯，僅各縣市以國際慣用為由保留WadeGiles拼音、淡水及鹿港則依國際通用、約定俗成方式譯寫。由於政府曾普遍使用通用拼音，因此在部分地方、人名中仍可見通用拼音。
