Description

Anemometer is an application, that measures wind velocitybyanalyzing spectrum of sound, created by the air flow around yourAndroid device. It is a wind speed meter in your pocket.The app isuseful for people, doing outdoor activities depending on thewind,such as paragliding, kite surfing or sailing.This wind speedmeter uses quite sophisticated algorithm to extract wind speedrange from zero up to about 15m/s, dependingon the device. Thisalgorithm allows to filter out most of sounds, so that human voice,ornoise of trees on the wind do not affect measurementaccuracy.Before starting to use anemometer please set zero windlevel: hold your device in silent no-wind conditionsand press "Setzero" item in menu. The value will be stored in persistent memory,so you don't need todo it often. However, if you feel that zerolevel is wrong for some reason - just re-do it.New method ofanemometer calibration is added:put phone side by side with thereference anemometer instrument to a constant air flow, click onMenu-Calibration Point and enter wind speed, measuredby referencedevice. Calibration constant will be re-calculatedautomatically.When the anemometer is stopped measured data is savedto file (10 points per second). Directory Anemometer is createdwhen you launch application for the first time.Data files arelocated in this directory, names start from W and contain date andtime of saving.Saving data can be also forced during measurement byswiping the screen.The linearity and calibration of wind speedmeter are ensured for Samsung Galaxy S, other devicesmay showdeviations from linear response.
