Description

Removing past events from the calendar is a tedious job – click onthe event, click setting, pick delete, then confirm. With thisapplication you can set it up once, start the service and forgetabout it - it will keep your calendar clean without furtherintervention from you until you decide to modify the setting or tostop it explicitly from the application. The application has verylimited settings - you have to choose how many days of past eventsyou want to keep in each one of your calendars and that is aboutit. The default value is 0 days for all calendars that you own, which is a very good value - I use it all the time. It removesevery event from yesterday or older. In the settings menu you havean option to clean only the calendars that you own or all calendarsthat you have configured. Seems that I am able to "remove" officialholidays, which don't really disappear from the Google Calendar webinterface, but are not longer visible on the phone. Bug or afeature, I find that option very useful. The option is disabled bydefault and you should keep it this way if it gives you anygrief. The application user interface is already translated toEnglish, Spanish, French and Russian. Please contact me by e-mailif you want to help with translation to German.A known limitationwith the application is that it currently insists on cleaning allcalendars that you own. If for some reason you want to exclude someof them your only option is to set the number of days to keep tosome big value - I have put 3660 in the drop down just for thatpurpose. If you would like to keep more than 10 years of all eventplease do not install this application, but drop me an e-mail so Ican judge how much interest is in improving this. Please don't stopthe service through the Manage Applications. Although that willwork temporarily, the service will restart when you reboot yourphone and start cleaning your calendar again, using the last savedsettings. The right way to stop the service is from the applicationitself and it takes just one button. After that the service willstay stopped until you decide to start it again. This applicationreads your calendar and removes entries from your calendar, whichis considered write to the calendar. It does NOT create entries inthe calendar and does NOT send mail. The explanation for theWRITE_CALENDAR permission includes sending mail for some reason. There is no “send email” permission in the API at all, so there isnothing I can do about that.

Calendar Cleanup 2.2 APK
Removing past events from the calendar is a tedious job – click onthe event, click setting, pick delete, then confirm. Thisapplication will clean all past events from your calendar with asingle click. Here is how it all works. First you choose from thedrop down the calendar you want to clean. Then you pick number ofdays in the past that you want to preserve. Click the Prune buttonand you are done. You can repeat this process for as many calendarsyou have write access to.But didn't I say a single click? Actually,if you have just one calendar and you want every past event removedyou do need a single click only – the Prune button. If you have asingle calendar but you want to preserve a couple of days of pastevents you will have to click a few times, but just the first timeyou run the application. On the next run the application remembersthe settings and you will need a single click only – the Prunebutton.A fully automated cleaning is available too - see AutomatedCalendar Cleaning(http://market.android.com/details?id=org.dg.calendar.auto)Thisapplication reads your calendar and removes entries from yourcalendar, which is considered write to the calendar. It does NOTcreate entries in the calendar and does NOT send mail. Theexplanation for the WRITE_CALENDAR permission includes sending mailfor some reason. There is no “send email” permission in the API atall, so there is nothing I can do about that.
