Description

Carousel is a game that’s easy tounderstandplay but difficult to master. It’s a matching game with48 levelsof increasing difficulty.

Completing each level is easy - match up the ‘carousels’(thisname for the segmented circles stuck at an early stage) -there areseveral pairs of them on the screen. When they’re matched, gameover. If you don’t match them before the “clock” runs out, thentryagain.

Tap once to select a ‘carousel’, tap a second to match (ortapthe first again to deselect) …. and that’s alltheinstructions.

Completing a level gains you access to the next one - thereare48 over four ‘pages’ (swipe left and right on the select pagetosee the others). Progress is saved between runs of theprogram.

The first dozen or so levels are dead easy, and are just togetyou into the swing of it. It does get more difficult, andlatermuch more difficult.

In case it gets too difficult, or alternatively you arereallysmart and it’s too easy, you can change the level from thedefault‘medium’ to hard or easy (this makes things roughly 30%harder or30% easier respectively). This is on the level selectpage, alongwith the audio on/off control.

As well as being a (hopefully) fun and (occasionally)infuriatingpuzzle game, the game should also improve yourconcentration and eyetracking skills.

This is free - there are no in app purchases or anything elsetobuy, but there are periodic advertisements shown, howeverinternetconnection is not required, it will work fine witho

Paul Robson
Turmoil is a retro shoot em up loosely basedon an Atari 2600 game, with elements of "Tempest" involved.Like many games of its kind, it involves blasting a series ofabstract aliens with different behaviours to pieces.Control is very simple. Touching the screen moves to the touchedchannel, pointing in the appropriate direction. Firing isautomatic.
Phantom Slayer 1.1 APK
Paul Robson
Phantom Slayer is a simple butfunmaze/exploration game, based on the original game for theTRS80Color Computer. You explore a 3D maze, attempting to kill off the phantoms inthemaze. You get an audible clue when phantoms are nearby, rapidheavybreathing. Your gun has a two second recharge time, and thereisalso a teleport in the maze which takes you back to yourstart. You can have either modern or retro graphics. This game is now nearly thirty years old, but the originalwasnotoriously creepy. I think I've managed to get some oftheoriginal 'creepiness' in the game. This game is free as in really free, it is open source, thereareno adverts, nothing you can buy, sell or rent, no extra levels. It'sjust there for a bit of fun if you want. Or not if youdon't.

BrainDrain 1.0 APK
Paul Robson
BrainDrain is a game designed to sharpen yourwits, improve your concentration and improve your reading skills. It is a simple idea - there is a grid of items, ranging from 2x2to 7x7 - these can be letters, numbers, words and you have toremove them in order, by touching on them. The quicker you do it,the higher your score. The score is a combination of the timeremaining (there is a timer bar at the bottom of the game screen)and a difficulty level - you get more points for doing the sequencebackwards, for example. To help you improve your skills, by making the test morechallenging, there are several options you can turn off and on asyou like. You can do the test backwards - z to a rather than a toz. The tiles can move about - either you can ‘slide’ a row, orrotate the outer row (or both), fast and slow. You can increasedistraction by having the background colours of the tiles change, and finally you can have the text or numbers upside down, back tofront or if you really want, both. There are several preset ‘sets’ - numbers and letters, both‘sequential’ (e.g. 1,2,3,4,5) or ‘spaced’ - with gaps in - (e.g.1,3,6,8,10). There is a set of three letter words to be sortedalphabetically, and the top 500 english words, again sortedalphabetically. You can also create you own word set for a challenge - there isan editor accessed using the box/arrow icon (bottom left on thesetup screen) which takes you to a simple but functional editorwhich allows you to enter word lists. You can do this either bytyping directly or by cut and pasting text in from other programsor web pages. This can be any text you like, but the ‘required’order in this case is not the alphabetical order but the order thetext is typed in. The ‘default’ text here is a poem “Kubla Khan” byColeridge, and you have to do the words not alphabetically, but inthe order they are in the poem (only the first 49 words are used). As a result, this is probably the first app ever to have a classmember called “xanadu” …..Again, this is not alphabetical order, so you would click ‘in’‘xanadu’ ‘did’ ‘kubla’ ‘khan’ and so on (best done in 7x7 grid)Both the high score table and the users word list are savedbetween games, in your tablet or phone’s document store. The app is free and complete, there are no in app purchases, butthere are unobtrusive advertisements at the top of somescreens.
