The media contents are provided by a UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) media server like the FRITZ!Box, XBMC,Plex or the Windows 7 operating system. If a network television orhome theatre system is integrated in the home network, use theAndroid device to select the desired device for playback. So it isconvenient to listen to music or watch videos, pictures stored onone of the hard drives using your television or home theatresystem. Devices with network support are designated as part of the"Digital Living Network Alliance" (DLNA), a standard that allowsfor the exchange of data between computers, consumer electronics,mobile communications and other electronic equipment in thenetwork. Further devices can be WiFi-Speakers or PC system withappropriated software.
The FRITZ!App TV is the perfect complement for the FRITZ!Box Cablewith TV streaming functionality or a FRITZ!WLAN Repeater DVB-C.This app lets you watch all free-to-air channels broadcast on cabletelevision on your Smartphone or Tablet (with Android Version 4.4or later). The television signal from the cable TV connection isdistributed via WiFi or LAN throughout the entire home. With FRITZ!App Cam your Android smartphone (or tablet) at homebecomes a webcam. FRITZ!App Cam controls the camera of thesmartphone/tablet and provides the recorded images over http orhttps for viewing in a browser anywhere with an Internetconnection. No special plug-ins or software is needed. The appconnects to the FRITZ!Box over wireless LAN. Within the homenetwork FRITZ!App Cam presents an IP address and the port, both ofwhich can simply be entered in the address line of the browser. Foraccess over the Internet, upon request FRITZ!App Cam automaticallyconfigures MyFRITZ! sharing so that access is as simple as openingthe https://www.myfritz.net portal or using the directMy-FRITZ!-URL of your FRITZ!Box (for this the FRITZ!Box must beregistered with MyFRITZ!). With FRITZ!App WLAN you can keep an eye on your wireless network atall times. Use the FRITZ!App WLAN for an easy connection from yourAndroid smartphone or tablet to the wireless LAN of your FRITZ!Boxor any other WLAN router. The FRITZ!App WLAN also provides you withuseful details about the existing wireless connection. A graphicdiagram presented in the FRITZ!App WLAN offers you additionaltransparency about the channel assignments of the various devicesin your wireless LAN environment. Since August 2018, Google'stechnical guidelines allow Android apps to display information onthe wireless environment only if "location" rights have beenenabled for the app. AVM has no influence on these Androidguidelines. If you do not wish to grant location rights and yourdevice has an Android version older than Android 9 (Pie) installed,you can use the FRITZ!App WLAN Basic instead. The FRITZ!App WLANBasic does not require location rights, as it is based on the stateof the software before August 2018. From now onFRITZ!App Ticker the start screen will show the last calls youmissed to your FRITZ!Box.Calls missed today are displayed in bold font. Meters show youthe number of corresponding calls, as well as the number of callspicked up by the answering machine. You can return the callsdirectly from the call list or the telephone book. From August 2018 new technical requirements for Android apps comeinto effect, which obliged every new apps to ask the user for thelocation permission and to activate GPS in order to displayinformation of the wifi environment . FRITZ!App WLAN Basic is alite version of the FRITZ!App WLAN for Android versions up toAndroid 8.1.0 and is not affected by these requirements. Inexchange it does not get any support service from AVM or anyupdates.
