Steampunk TarotBot 2.5
Liberus
Optimized for Honeycomb tablets and smallscreen devicesincludes the full text of Pictorial Key to the Steampunk Tarotby Charissa Drengsen“Steampunk” (term coined by K. W. Jeter in a letter to LocusMagazine, in April 1987) is now a full-blown 21st Centurysubculture that embraces a vision of a futuristic,alternate-universe (perhaps post-apocalyptic) Victorian/Edwardianage featuring brass and copper steam-powered inventions that go farbeyond 1800's technology. This world includes mechanical wonderssuch as gear-driven computers, modern dirigibles, modded clockwork, time machines and flying contraptions. Influenced by a range ofliterature from Jules Verne and H. G. Wells to Lemony Snicket andAlan Moore, steampunk is often associated with cyberpunk but tendsto be less dystopian.I do not pretend to be an authority on what is and what is notsteampunk. Personally, I think anyone who pretends expertise istreading on dangerous ground. The steampunk subculture is anevolving entity, as open to definition and reinterpretation asslang, fashion and genre usually are. The images I created for thisdeck of tarot cards are merely my own personal vision, howsteampunk speaks to me as an artist, where it intersects with mythand archetype. My wish and desire is that they will speak to you aswell, opening a window onto another vista you may not have gazedupon before. From where I stand, one of the important aspects of steampunk isthe way it brings together the masculine and the feminine, the hardand the soft, yin and yang, east and west. As Jake von Slatt said,“the intersection of technology and romance.” It seems to lenditself quite well to the archetypes of the tarot, which seek tofind that path at the balancing point of extremes. That place wefind ourselves as a people, moving fast on a speeding locomotivetoward an uncertain future.Artist Charissa Drengsen of curly-cue design has been working asa freelance artist, designer and writer since 1989. She graduatedfrom California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco in1999 with a BA in Integral Studies, after which she pursued an MFAin Transformative Arts at John F Kennedy University in Berkeley. Her work is influenced by post-modernism, theoretical quantumphysics, vintage sensibilities, 21st Century sub-cultures, and afascination with dystopia and decline of civilization.Charissa has had her hands in many pies over the past severalyears, including: pin up photography, upcycled fashion, scenicpainting for theatre, murals, mixed media fine art &assemblage, jewelry making, pop art, documenting decay, teaching, vintage photo restoration, soft sculpture, and playing with paperdolls. She makes her home in that hobo town Petaluma, Californiawith her fiesty teenage daughter and a passle of quirky cats. Thewalls of her room are painted burnt orange.TarotBot Android Tarot ReaderTarotBot is an open source framework for tarot readings onAndroid devices with switchable card decks and interpretations. The interface, which re-presents tarot, was designed with theprimary goal to only draw from the physical artifacts (the deck ofcards) those attributes which are meaningful to the reading:imagery, interpretations, and context. Hebrew Tarot 2.5
Liberus
One day, perhaps by chance, I found myself acollector and fan of tarot cards. Especially thanks to a dearfriend of mine, whom I happened to meet almost by accident, OsvaldoMenegazzi the creator of Il Meneghello editions. He is a brilliantartist, whom I admire for his many productions and work. On theoccasion of our meeting, chatting amicably, the brilliant insightwas born that led him to create this beautiful masterpiece, 22major arcana extracted from the Hebrew alefbet.-I believe Osvaldo has been able to emphasize with great skillthose letters with an archaic and complex contour filled withpenetrating colors projected on a light blue background recallingthe tone of the Israeli flag. With this artistic project, OsvaldoMenegazzi manages to combine, in my opinion, perfect artistry withthe essence of the Jewish world and art in a pure state bymaintaining a rigorous and detailed respect for grammar andcrests.-I am a Jewish doctor, careful student of history and Jewishtradition and very attached to my origins, and I never thought tofind myself in a place to comment, though with humility and awe,the prestigious work of an artist which I deeply appreciate.-The Hebrew language is part of the Semitic language group knownas the North West. The Hebrew alphabet, Mohabit, punivo, ammonitichedonistic, dates from the late second millennium. The writingdeveloped in the Syrian alphabetic background. From 539 BC, the oldpost exilic tract "Phoenician" was gradually replaced by "square"or "Arami" come down to us and used for our Hebrew Bibles. The Hebrew alphabet consists of 22 consonants. Missing vowelswere added only in later ages (VI-VIII centuries AD, to secure theaural tradition of the biblical text .-For each consonant there is a numeric value. This convention wasintroduced in the post-biblical period, and is sometimes used toindicate the sequence of verses and chapters of each book .-Gematria is one of the aggadah hermeneutical rules forinterpreting the Torah, used to explain a word or group of wordsaccording to the numerical value of letters or to substitute otherletters of the alphabet according to a fixed system. Although theterm Gematria is normally used to mean "manipulated according tothe numerical value," it sometimes just means "calculations" .-

TarotBot Marseille:Noblet free 2.5
Liberus
Optimized for Honeycomb tablets and smallscreen devicesTarotBot Flornoy seriesIn loving memory of Jean-Claude Flornoy, thank you for bringingnew life to the Tarot. The Marseille tarotIt is generally known that the denomination "Marseille tarot"became mainstream in the 1930’s when Paul Marteau, in response tothe increasingly popularity of Golden Dawn-based decks, decided tore-launch the French tarot by reprinting an old version of theNicolas Conver deck, calling it the 'Veritable tarot de Marseille'.Marteau may have gotten the idea from the fact that three hundredyears before, the city of Marseilles was the main port throughwhich French tarot decks were exported to the rest of the world. Itseemed appropriate, then, to baptize the French tradition as being'from 'Marseille'. Or perhaps Marteau borrowed the term from Papus, who wrote in his book, 'le Tarot des bohémiens': "We hope that forthis purpose you have procured the Tarot of Marseilles, the mostcorrect in its symbolism". This was, indeed, the earliest known useof the term. That is how several decks sharing similar distinctivefeatures but produced in various localities (the Jean Noblet tarot, for example, was printed in Paris in 1650, while the Jean Dodal wasprinted in Lyon in 1701) ended up consigned to the same label.Think of the Marseille tradition as the champagne of tarots: adenomination that transcends its geographical origin to define avery unique kind of experience. The Marseille is the most poetic of all tarots. Each cardcontains a hint from another card, in an endless game of visualresonances. Linked to la langue des oiseaux (the Language of TheBirds), French folklore suggests that the Marseille tarot speaksdirectly to the eye in the subtle voice of its characters'gestures. The Marseille tarot borrows its language from theRomanesque cathedrals of France, from the chanting arms of medievalheraldry, and from the French people's love of puns and wordplay. The Marseille tarot hides its secrets in the obvious.Tarotbot gives you the opportunity to experience the Marseilletarot, either through Jean Noblet's elegant design or through therough shapes of Jean Dodal. Both have been restored, from the onlyoriginal surviving decks kept in the British Museum and theBiblioteque Nationale of France, by master card-maker Jean-ClaudeFlornoy.
