Nahjul Balagha 1.5
Nahjul Balagha is a collection of Sermons, Letters andmiscellaneous Sayings left as a memorial from the Amir-al-Momeneen,Imam Ali (as). This App is divided into two sections of Sermons andLetters. Shia Muslims consider Imam Ali(as) as the true successorof Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him and his progeny). ImamAli(a.s) is not a Prophet, but he played an important role inpreserving the true values and the Message of Allah that wasdelivered through the Holy Prophet(s). Without a proper teacher, people go astray and try to interpret religion their own way.Today's World is a perfect example of that but it roots back tohistorical/political events that happened after the death ofProphet Muhammad that shook the Islamic World.Late Syed Radicompiled Nahjul Balagha over a thousand years ago and before hemade the effort, these jewels were scattered all over the Islamicliterature. Other scholars were in the process of doing the samething, but God gave Syed Radi the opportunity and the will tofinish this enormous task. According to him certain words andexpressions of Nahjul Balagha are matchless in human expression byeloquent writers, Islamic thinkers and even the adversaries ofIslam. These people have always accepted that some statements ofthe Nahjul Balagha are superior to human expression and beyond theordinary level of the human being's knowledge at that time. We areindebted to the endeavors and initiatives of Syed Radi who left theNahj-ul-Balagha for us.The Sermons included in Nahj-ul-Balagha wereexpressed and written by Imam Ali(as) as a teacher, ruler and anIslamologist. Thus, in addition to reflecting the general lines ofIslamic thought, these Sermons and Letters also cover dailymatters, i.e. the current problems and difficulties of Imam Ali's(as) life. The importance of the Nahj-ul-Balagha lies in twodimensions. First, it speaks about the fundamental of Islam such asthe matters concerning God, the human being, Islamic views ofhumanity, prophet hood and its position in human history a means ofunderstanding Islam and thus necessary for us to study. Secondly, the Nahjul Balagha refers to the social problems of a hypocriticalsociety with which we deal today. Accordingly, this book can be asource of Inspiration for us as regards to the social and politicalproblems of life and the possible solutions to them. The quality andeloquence of these very magnificent purports needs to be noted. Itis these purports which make us appreciate the Nahjul Balagha, nowin the fourteenth century, more than a great scholar of the fourthcentury did. As a matter of fact, the human being has naturallyfaced so many hardships in the course of centuries that he or sheunderstands Amir-al-Momeneen's (as) message and the call of Islamfrom his tongue more easily than those who lived centuries ago.
