Description

The digital India campaign has promoted extensive use of ICTs inthe teaching learning process. The ePathshala, a joint initiativeof Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of Indiaand National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT)has been developed for showcasing and disseminating all educationale-resources including textbooks, audio, video, periodicals, and avariety of other digital resources. The ePathshala Mobile app isdesigned to achieve the SDG Goal no. 4 as well i.e. equitable,quality, inclusive education and lifelong learning for all andbridging the digital divide. Students, Teachers, Educators andParents can access eBooks through multiple technology platform thatis mobile phones and tablets (as epub) and from the web portalthrough laptops and desktops (as Flipbook). ePathshala also allowsusers to carry as many books as their device supports. Features ofthese books allow users to pinch, select, zoom, bookmark,highlight, navigate, share, listen to text using text to speech(TTS) apps and make notes digitally.

The use of ICT for improving education as emphasized by theNPE(1986), by CABE, in its report on Universal Education(2012)recommending ICT inclusion in schooling and ICT Curriculumfor Schools (2013) has consequently led major government schemes tohave a component of funding allocated for using ICT. NISHTHA : National Initiative for School Heads' and Teachers'Holistic Advancement NISHTHA is a capacity building programme for"Improving Quality of School Education through Integrated TeacherTraining". It aims to build competencies among all the teachers andschool principals at the elementary stage.
