Amref, working with otherdevelopment partners have influenced health policy and practice inAfrica. However, Amref’s effort in influencing health policy andpractice, has been impeded by data inadequacy, resulting to weakevidence on priority indicators e.g. maternal health, water andsanitation, among others. The Omnibus is an Amref’s initiativewhose objective is to continually collect data from thebeneficiaries reached within her programme sites and maintain adata repository for learning and advocacy. It comprises of a set ofselected questions on topical areas of interest which areadministered on monthly basis to beneficiaries reached by Amrefprogrammes. All Amref programmes/projects are required toparticipate in the omnibus exercise every month. The projectofficers are responsible for filling at least 10 omnibusquestionnaires every month, and uploading the responses on themobile application to be uploaded to the web based database hostedat Amref HQ server. The monitoring and evaluation/ Research Team atHeadquarters retrieves data, analyses and generates omnibus reportsquarterly.Amref defines beneficiaries as a segment of targetpopulation who have directly been reached with service. The avenuesfor administering omnibus questionnaire could be household, healthfacility, community or group meetings. Beneficiaries who willparticipate in the interview are selected randomly.
