“Havaamaana-Krishi” is the firstdedicatedfarmer-oriented Agrometeorological Application thatprovidesinformation on weather, short range weather forecast andagrometadvisory for seven districts under the jurisdiction of UASDharwadin north Karnataka, India.
It is designed and developed by AICRP on Agrometeorology,VijayapuraCentre, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad.The threecomponents of the Application are: Prevailing weatherdata, shortrange weather forecast and agrometeorological advisoryfor sevendistricts under the jurisdiction of UAS Dharwad in northKarnataka,India. The seven districts are: Bagalkot, Belagavi(Belgaum),Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Uttara Kannada andVijayapura(Bijapur).
The information provided in this Application is exclusivelymeantfor use by farmers towards saving their crop from adverseweatherconditions by adopting timely agricultural operations infield andhorticultural crops as well as animal husbandry in theregion. Theinformation is available both in vernacular Kannada andin English.

Weather data: The meteorological data collected atrepresentativeAgricultural Research Stations of the sevendistricts are presented.The data corresponds to past 24 hours at8.30 a.m. of the datementioned on the screen as observed at thespecific researchstation(s).

Weather forecast: The qualitative short range weatherforecastfor the seven districts is prepared using the synopticweatherforecast maps of India Meteorological Department(IMD)(www.imd.gov.in ) and NCEP (National Centers forEnvironmentalPrediction) (www.monsoondata.org) along with thedynamics ofinfrared and water vapor channel satellite imageries ofIMD andDundee/eumetsat (oiswww.eumetsat.org andwww.sat.dundee.ac.ukwebsites as applicable to peninsular India. Theforecasts areupdated every day. If necessary emergency updates arealsoprovided, as nowcasts.

Agrometeorological Advisories: Agrometeorologicaladvisorybulletins prepared by the Agromet Field Units (AMFUs) ofGraminKrishi Mausam Seva (GKMS) Project at Dharwad (for Belagavi,Dharwadand Haveri districts), Sirsi (for Uttara Kannada district)andVijayapura (for Bagalkot, Gadag and Vijayapura districts)areincluded in this component. The bulletins are based onthequantitative forecasts issued by the MeteorologicalCentre,Bengaluru of India Meteorological Department, Govt. ofIndia.
