Deadshowfinder 1.0 APK
Thomas Maher
FIND THE SHOW ON YOUR GRATEFUL DEAD TAPEThe most importantcapability of this application, I hope, is its ability to identifywhich show performance your Grateful Dead tape was recorded at. Ifyou have an unlabeled tape, or a long mp3 file of a show, orotherwise need to discover which show the music was played at, thisapplication can probably help to establish the truth. It works likethis:1. You input two songs that were played consecutively at theshow. 2. The application displays the complete set lists for showswhere the song sequence you submitted were played in the same orderat the show. 3. You browse the list of candidate shows to discoverwhich show your tape was made from. When you see a set list withthe songs on your tape, in order, you have found the correct show.At that point, you can label your tape with the date, location andset list for the show. OTHER USES:You can search shows by date andby location. LIMITATIONS:This application works because JerryStratton kindly compiled and shared his database of Dead shows(still available at gdead.berkeley.edu). Unfortunately, thedatabase has some modest inconsistency that makes this applicationless useful. For example, when selecting a song and typing Fire, and waiting a moment, it retrieves two listings for Fire on themountain. This is because the source database has a case-sensitivedifference between two listings. One record says Fire on theMountain and the other says Fire On the Mountain. This is realproblem and will cause some show searches to fail. You will need tosearch all of the possible combinations to overcome thisshortcoming. Finding and correcting these anomalies would bedifficult and might introduce other problems. For now, when thesong listing choice list shows more than one listing for one song, you will need to check them both. The third set is usually only onesong. For this reason, You can search for shows by only enteringone song. This is likely to return too many shows to be useful.Sometimes even two consecutive songs will reveal a show list thatis very long. For example, the sequence of these two songs in thisorder:China cat sunflowerI know you rider...shows 376 shows! Thatis a very long list. Such sequences are uncommon. Usually twoconsecutive shows will reveal a few number of shows. CREDIT: JerryStratton and others who compiled and shared dead show data.
