This application informs and explains in detail about the enginecontrol system and also comes with how to fix or solve problemswith your car engine.Precautions for On Board Diagnostic(OBD)System of EngineThe ECM has an on board diagnostic system. Itwill light up the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) to warn thedriver of a malfunction causing emission deterioration.CAUTION:- Besure to turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negativebattery terminal before any repair or inspection work. Theopen/short circuit of related switches, sensors, solenoid valves,etc. will cause the MIL to light up.- Be sure to connect and lockthe connectors securely after work. A loose (unlocked) connectorwill cause the MIL to light up due to the open circuit. (Be surethe connector is free from water, grease, dirt, bent terminals,etc.)- Certain systems and components, especially those related toOBD, may use a new style slidelocking type harness connector. Fordescription and how to disconnect, refer to EL section,“Description”, “HARNESS CONNECTOR”.- Be sure to route and securethe harnesses properly after work.
