TimeTrack® is a unique cloud based calendar, time and note trackingsystem for educational leaders providing a reflective practicestructure to examine and improve the impact school leaders have onteaching and learning. Downloading the app is free but full userequires a log-in and user name assigned by the National SAMInnovation Project, NSIP, the non-profit provider of this uniqueprofessional development process for school principals and otherschool and district level leaders. Mark Shellinger, a formerteacher, principal and superintendent, created the process andtools. The initial pilot showed promising results and a positivecorrelation with student achievement. The Foundation supportedreplication, development and research for nine years. Threeindependent and external research studies have shown the process ishighly effective. SAM services are now provided by the National SAMInnovation Project (NSIP), a non-profit corporation. More than 700principals and principal supervisors in twenty-one states use theSAM process to improve teaching and learning. Is the SAM processexpensive? No. NISP contracts with districts and schools at anannual rate, or fee, that declines each year as capacity isdeveloped locally. SAM is not a program. It is a professionaldevelopment process a principal uses to do the good work the schooland district has determined will best help students. The first yearfee for a school is $12,900 and includes services for theprincipal, assistant principals and SAM team members. This feeusually decreases by about 30% each year as capacity is developedat the school and district level. What services are included? Once the school community and principal have completed thereadiness steps, Time/Task Analysis™, or shadowing, is conductedfor one week.
