IGate2 Pro is a mobile app that performs a receive-only APRSIGATE.It is a software for HAM radio amateurs that uses a radioreceiveror an SDR (software defined radio) dongle and aninternetconnection. The radio receiver or the RTL-SDR dongle tuner(coststarting from 10 €) and its antenna, receives theinformationcontained in APRS packets transmitted from HAM radiostations, andthen a phone device, with IGate2, forwards them to theworld wideweb using its internet connection (WiFi or 3G). IGate2acts as aSoftware Defined Radio Demodulator, a TNC Modem and anInternetGate. The app has an option for AutoStartfunctionthat is useful for unattended TV Box devices (with Android6.0 orup). The preset of the UHF Aprs frequency is 432.500 Mhz.Since thedevice and the Sdr dongle drains much power from the phonebattery,it is recommended to use the phone charger or a power bank.Youwill need an OTG power cable. It is not easy to find aworkingcable, maybe you can do it yourself. The reception qualityof theIGate depends, above all, on the antenna connected to theSdrdongle. With very strong FM broadcasts in your area, it maybehelpful to manually adjust the gain of the receiver or useaband-stop filter. If you use an analog receiver you will needanaudio cable (useful also for the tracker app), do not useanacoustic coupling by bringing the microphone of the phone closetothe speaker of the receiver and also be sure that the powersavingfunction is not active on the receiver, otherwise sometruncatedpackets will be discarded.
