Welcome to Verisimilitude II

This game was created for the Global Archiact Jam by TeamTSITAPH.

'Verisimilitude II' is the first known mobile VR application tofeature real-world walk/jog detection, without additional hardware.To explore, look in the direction you wish to travel, then gentlywalk or jog on the spot. Your phone’s accelerometer will detect theup and down vibrations and move forward.

Combining original oil paintings by Pilar Cortés and music byMarcus Dyer, ‘Verisimilitude II’ begins by presenting ninepaintings in a virtual gallery, before immersing the user in aworld created from that work. Featuring a Myst-inspired adventureelement, ‘Verisimilitude II’ functions as both art installation andexperiential game.

Instructions:

A follow up to iOS VR app ‘Verisimilitude I’, this secondapplication presents an entirely new experience, this time forAndroid.

After a small period of time to allow you to fit your VRequipment, your phone’s accelerometer will detect the up and downvibrations created when you walk, allowing you to move forward. Toexplore, look in the direction you wish to travel, then gently walkor jog on the spot.

Sensitivity threshold and walk speed can be adjusted to taste inthe settings menu. Beware that too sensitive a setting, may resultin unwanted movement being detected and too high a threshold mayresult in no movement at all.

It is possible to interact with some objects within‘Verisimilitude II’. To do so, look directly at the object forseveral seconds, while keeping still. If the object can be pickedup or used, it will glow and slowly increase in size. Keep lookingdirectly at it until the item disappears or action istriggered.

Google Cardboard, Durovis Dive or other compatible stereoscopicviewer required for VR mode. 2D mode also available. Headphoneshighly recommended. Performance will be limited on older lower specdevices.

Please take extra care not to lose balance while using thisapplication. Consider holding on to a chair to keep balance andusing in a space with soft furnishings. May cause motion sickness.Not recommended for young children.

'Stories of Wigan' is acommunity-orientatedproject collecting the stories of individualsand groups in thearea and presenting a series of dance, theatre,writing and singingworkshops.Released to coincide, this application presents a selectionoflocation-dependent films combining dance, music and dialogue.Thesefilms are unlocked by completing the sliding puzzles orscanningthe QR codes found on ‘Stories of Wigan’ posters and flyersinvarious locations around Wigan.Found a ‘Stories of Wigan’ poster or flyer? Scan the QR codeonthe poster or flyer to watch and unlock a film connected tothatlocation. After you’ve watched a video, the name and locationofthe next film in the trail will be revealed on the map.Alternatively, play a unique twist on the classic slidingpuzzlegame and unlock the 'Stories of Wigan' films one-by-one. Eachtilerepresents a short clip from the film. Watch the dancerscarefully,paying close attention to the choreography and listen tothe musicand speech. The more tiles you position correctly, themore starsyou will be awarded.
