In this app concerning the Wilsoncloudchamber, in design and function. In the cloud chamber, theionizingeffect of radiation is used to make the path of chargedparticles(such as alpha particles) visible so that it canbephotographed.
As the piston is moved, adiabatic expansion of the air inthechamber results in supersaturation with water vapour. Theionscreated by alpha particles act as nuclei for condensation,formingcloud trails which indicate the path of the alphaparticle.
