B"HKaddish (Aramaic קַדִּישׁ – holy) is a unique andexaltedprayer/declaration which sanctifies the name of G-d andexpressesour burning desire for the time when "His great name growexaltedand sanctified" throughout the world. Interestingly, thename ofG-d is not mentioned even once in the entire kaddish; onlyareference to His great name. The text of Kaddish is mostly intheAramaic language. It is recited a few times during theprayerservices, but only when a Minyan (gathering of ten or moremen overthe age of thirteen) is present. Reciting Kaddish duringprayerguarantees acceptance of one's prayer in Heaven. Furthermore,theKaddish which is recited by a mourner on behalf of adeceasedrelative (Mourner's Kaddish) has the power to protect thesoul ofthe departed from the punishments in the next world.There are a few slight variations (Nusach) to the Kaddish textbasedon the origins of the community/congregation. (e.g.Ashkenazic,Sefardic).
