A single yacht bobbed and lolled in the incomingtide, likea toy in a bath. Its lights winked saucily as thewave-crests rosegently. The siren call of the sea was soothing, thewave musicwelcome. The rising sun laminated us with warmth and acarnival ofsmells drifted towards us from the hotel kitchen. We hadcoal-firedlobster for breakfast and it tasted as galactic as thehotel’sname: Heavens Hideaway.

Cirrus clouds are the most common of thehighclouds, they are composed of ice and are thin and wispy.Theseclouds are usually white. Whereas cirrostratus clouds are thinandsheet like high clouds that often cover the entiresky.Cirrostratus clouds usually come 12 to 24 hours before a rainorsnow storm. However cirrocumulus clouds appear as smallroundedwhite puffs that appear in rose. As u see high cloudshowever canbe interesting and nice because it shows how many typesof cloudsthere are and what they can do.Mid-level clouds are about 4000nmeters from the ground. Thecloudsthat are up there are altostratus and altocumulusclouds.Altostratus clouds are grey or blue grey mid-level cloudsthat arecomposed of ice crystals and water droplets. The sun was slowly going down the horizon.Asit went down, the burning light of the sun got dull and itlookedlike a huge disc of orange and yellow. The scene lookedmesmerizing. Thebirds were also chirping and flying away to theirhomes. Thepleasant breeze, the sweet smell of salty water mixed insand andthe sound of waves crashing against each other completedthe sceneof a perfect sunset I had always read about inbooks.

At age twenty-nine, he made threesuccessivechariot rides outside the palace grounds and saw an oldperson, asick person, and a corpse, all for the first time. On thefourthtrip, he saw a wandering holy man whose asceticisminspiredSiddhartha to follow a similar path in search of freedomfrom thesuffering caused by the infinite cycle of birth, death,andrebirth. Because he knew his father would try to stophim,Siddhartha secretly left the palace in the middle of thenight(28.105) and sent all his belongings and jewelry back withhisservant and horse. Completely abandoning his luxuriousexistence,he spent six years as an ascetic (1987.218.5), attemptingtoconquer the innate appetites for food, sex, and comfort byengagingin various yogic disciplines. Eventually near death fromhisvigilant fasting, he accepted a bowl of rice from a younggirl.Once he had eaten, he had a realization that physicalausteritieswere not the means to achieve spiritual liberation. At aplace nowknown as Bodh Gaya (“enlightenment place”), he sat andmeditatedall night beneath a pipal tree. After defeating the forcesof thedemon Mara, Siddhartha reached enlightenment (1982.233) andbecamea Buddha (“enlightened one”) at the age of thirty-five.The Buddha continued to sit after his enlightenment,meditatingbeneath the tree and then standing beside it for a numberof weeks.During the fifth or sixth week, he was beset by heavyrains whilemeditating but was protected by the hood of the serpentkingMuchilinda (1987.424.19ab). Seven weeks after hisenlightenment, heleft his seat under the tree and decided to teachothers what hehad learned, encouraging people to follow a path hecalled “TheMiddle Way,” which is one of balance rather thanextremism. He gavehis first sermon (1980.527.4) in a deer park inSarnath, on theoutskirts of the city of Benares. He soon had manydisciples andspent the next forty-five years walking aroundnortheastern Indiaspreading his teachings. Although the Buddhapresented himself onlyas a teacher and not as a god or object ofworship, he is said tohave performed many miracles during hislifetime (1979.511).Traditional accounts relate that he died at theage of eighty(2015.500.4.1) in Kushinagara, after ingesting atainted piece ofeither mushroom or pork. His body was cremated andthe remainsdistributed among groups of his followers. These holyrelics wereenshrined in large hemispherical burial mounds(1985.387), a numberof which became important pilgrimage sites.
