The app is a kind of time machine. It takes back woodencastleexisted in IX-XVI centuries. It was a customs on the roadthroughthe Carpathian Mountains. Mykhaylo Rozhko has found traceson therocks nearly 50 years ago when he first came to Urych to aspecialplace where humans creatively augmented the nature. Reconstruction has been started from themanualmeasurement of about 4000 locations where wooden planks wereplacedon the stones in 1971-1977. The first scientific bakedgraphicreconstruction was made with pencil on paper based onknownarchitecture sample of the time some wooden remains withaccuracyup to 90%. In the most developed 5th building period inXIIIcentury it was up to 5 floors 3,5 - 5 meters high each – 25mtotal. Technology evolved, laser distance measurement hasbecomeaccessible and measurements were performed again. It was notenoughagain. Some parts of the rocks are not accessible coveredwithtrees. Drones helped to reach that places andphotogrammetryreconstruction provided centimeters to millimetersaccuracy. Thatway were achieved both stones and castle models inmodern computergraphics understanding. Matching and putting intomobile devicesthat work outdoors in different weather conditionswas a year-longtechnological challenge for SoftServe R&D team.Now It comesalive in real time on historical site outdoor and canbe reviewedindoor with images placed with an app in App Store andPlay Market.Nowadays we can rebuild or even 3D print full-scalecastle and it’snot going to be the authentic one. Thus the dreamachieved valuedside effect. It clearly appeared that the rocks arealso beingdestroyed in time and we can save this legacy. Withaugmentedreality, curious minds can feel the cultural-historicalphenomena.We should know who we were to go confidently to brighterfuture.
