Child Heart 1.0
Aster Medcity
The Child Heart mobile application isahelpingtool for the doctors which include paediatriciansandneonatologiststo communicate with an expert from AsterDMHealthcare, about thepossibility of Congenital heart disease(CHD)and also to estimatethe seriousness of the illness and planitssubsequent management. The Child Heart mobile application canbeused to add the physicalfindings that are relevant to thecasealong with images and videosthat support the query.Early detection of this anomaly is important to preventdeathandmorbidity. Congenital heart disease (CHD) is one ofthecommonesthuman malformations, affecting 6 per 1000 livebirths. They accountfor 10% of infant deaths and about 50% ofdeathsfrommalformations. It is a clinical paradox that themostbenignlesions such as small VSDs or mild pulmonary stenosis, aremorelikely to be detected on routine newborn examination. Ofthemajorstructural lesions, the cyanotic conditions willusuallypresentwith symptoms or signs and so also will be detectedearly.Thereremains, however, an important group with majorstructurallesions, particularly those with ductal-dependentsystemiccirculations, whoare well in the period shortly after birthandthen collapse in acritical state once the ductus closes. In aneraof early obstetricdischarge, this collapse is increasinglylikelyto happen at homewhere successful resuscitation is moredifficult. This clinicalproblem is one of the major unresolvedchallenges ofnewbornscreening. Congenital heart disease (CHD) ismore commonthan mostpeople realise. Nearly 1 percent of babies bornin thecountry eachyear have CHD, making it one of the mostfrequentlydiagnosed birthdefects. As advances in surgery andmedicalmanagement have greatlyimproved, those born with cardiacanomaliesare now living far intoadulthood. Why does early detection matter?• improves family experience throughout pathway;• improves immediate postnatal management optimised bybirthplaceator close to a paediatric cardiac surgery centre.• potentially reduces complications, morbidityandmortalityassociated with cardiovascular compromise subsequenttodelayeddiagnosis• reduces the number of emergency transfers of undiagnosedbabiesatbirth. The paediatrician collects the following data• O2 saturation level• Heart Rate• Capillary fill time• Chest X-ray• 12 Lead ECG• EchocardiogramThis information is populated and shared with the expertthroughthisapp. He receives a notification and provides hisexpertopinion inreturn via the app. This allows, the paediatrician to come to a conclusionregardingthepresence or absence of structural heart disease and theneedforfurther evaluation. In case there is strong suspicion, thepatientwould be referred to a higher centre fordiagnosisandmanagement.Features• Get an expert opinion in an instant• Send information (such as O2 saturation level,HeartRate,Capillary fill time, Chest X-ray, 12 Lead ECG,Echocardiogram)toan expert for inspection• Upload images and videos to support your query• Follow-up with the expert, until you are satisfied• Get notified when an expert answers your query
