Annisul Huq is the immediate past Presidentofthe SAARC (South Asian Association for RegionalCooperation)Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Huq has also served as the President of BangladeshGarmentManufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) for twoconsecutiveterms in 2005 and 2006. BGMEA, the largest trade body inthecountry represents the interest of the 3500 factories and 3millionworkers. As a President of BGMEA he initiated negotiationfor dutyfree access of Bangladesh apparels and the formation of the17members Caucus by the members of the Senate and the Congress oftheUnited States of America. During his presidency the caucusraised abill in Congress and Senate, titled 'Tariff ReliefAssistance forDeveloping Economies Act of 2005' or 'TRADE Act of2005' focusingon duty free entrance of Bangladeshi garments to theUS market. Asa President, Huq also worked extensively for changingof EuropeanUnion’s Rules of Origin favoring Bangladesh’s duty freeaccess andequally progressed with obtaining duty free facilitiesunder SAARCcountries accumulation.

Huq was also the President of the Federation of theBangladeshChamber of Commerce and Industry, the apex trade body ofthecountry, which represents 276 associations and 84 chambersofcommerce in the country. FBCCI negotiates with the governmentonissues relating to interest of the total business communityandcontributes to the development of the national economy bymakingpolicy recommendations to the government and relatedagencies. Huqserved as a President of FBCCI from 2008-2010.

Huq established his own business in 1986 and is theChairpersonof nine export-oriented organisations under the tradename of"Mohammadi Group" which directly employs approximately12,000individuals in solely the garments sector. In addition totheexport of ready-made garments, the group has a realestatedivision, two IT companies, a power generation companythatdirectly contributes to the national grid and adistributioncompany that represents multiple foreign televisionchannels. Thegroup turnover is $100 million+.

Huq majored in Economics and graduated with honorsfromUniversity of Chittagong.

Apart from business, as a passion Huq is affiliated withtheelectronic media scene in Bangladesh. He has hosted manyinterviewswith politically significant personalities, including aninterviewwith the current Prime Minister live on nationaltelevision. Huqhas hosted interviews that have influenced nationalvote in formingGovernment, such as the interview of four majorpolitical partiesduring election time. Huq often hosts high-levelbusinessdiscussion programs on television in which he interviewsbothpolitical and business personalities including finance andcommerceministers.
