Planning Poker is an agile SCRUMprojectmanagement tool. This is a consensus-based, game techniqueforestimating, mostly used to estimate effort or relative sizeofdevelopment goals in software development. In planningpoker,members of the group make estimates by playing numberedcardsface-down to the table, instead of speaking them aloud. Thecardsare revealed, and the estimates are then discussed. By hidingthefigures in this way, the group can avoid the cognitive biasofanchoring, where the first number spoken aloud sets a precedentforsubsequent estimates.
