Stroll through downtown Seattle and see proof of thecity’singenuity in the public arts. Artwork located in plazasandstreetscapes, parks, and civic and corporate buildingsenrichSeattle’s urban landscape.

Seattle’s public art program integrates artworks and the ideasofartists into public settings. Established in 1973, the publicartordinance specifies that one percent of eligible citycapitalimprovement project funds be set aside for the commission,purchaseand installation of artworks, enriching the publicexperience andgiving voice to artists.

And there’s more art out there. The city’s collectionencompassesmore than 400 permanent public artworks throughoutSeattle, andacross King County there are more than 300 permanentworks from thecounty’s collection. This map is showcases 10 areas:Seattle Center,South Lake Union, the Waterfront, Belltown, DennyTriangle, PikePlace Market, Central Business District, PioneerSquare, Chinatown/International District and SoDo, as well asseveral installations inoutlying areas.
