Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School, AISS, isaco-educational, secular, public school. The school isnamedposthumously after a patriotic Malay statesman, Encik AhmadBinIbrahim, who was the first Minister for Health inindependentSingapore. He also served as a Minister for Labour andwas theMember of Parliament for the Sembawang ward.

The school was declared opened by Mr Lee KhoonChoy,Parliamentary Secretary, Minister of Education. AI adoptedthemotto of Tolerance and Cooperation as its aim was to breakawayfrom the language barriers that existed in most schools then.MrChia Meng An was appointed as the first Principal.

In 1967 the school was chosen as the first pilot school forOpenEducation Programme for the blind, whereby the visuallychallengedpupils were integrated into the main stream.

In 1985 the school moved to a new building in Yishun. It wasthefirst school to function in that area.
