The Ebola CARE (Computational AssignmentofRisk Estimates) app aggregates several Neural Network predictorsofmortality risk for Ebola Virus Disease (EVD). These predictorsweretrained on the only publicly available clinical dataset fromtheWest African EVD outbreak, described by Schieffelin etal.(Schieffelin JS, Shaffer JG, Goba A, et al. Clinical illnessandoutcomes in patients with Ebola in Sierra Leone. N Engl JMed2014;371:2092-100).This dataset includes epidemiologic, clinical, andlaboratoryrecords of 106 patients treated at Kenema GovernmentHospital inSierra Leone during the initial stages of the outbreak,and it isavailable at http://fathom.info/mirador/ebola/datareleaseThe app allows the user to enter clinical chartsymptoms,metabolic panel results, and virus load levels (PCR) of anEVDpatient, and selects the best predictor for the available data.Thevariables that can be entered into the app are the following:age,gender, temperature, hearth rate, weakness, vomit,diarrhea,aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase(ALK),creatinine (CRE), total carbon dioxide (tCO2), and bloodureanitrogen (BUN).

Ebola CARE (Computational Assignment ofRiskEstimates) 2 is a proof-of-concept app designed to illustratehowprognosis prediction models could inform clinical care. ItshowsWorld Health Organization's treatment guidelines forEbolapatients, based on predicted mortality risk.Because it is a research prototype, this app should NOT be usedtomake treatment decisions on actual patients.The app incorporates prognosis predictors for Ebola VirusDisease(EVD), trained on clinical data collected in 5 EmergencyTreatmentUnits in Liberia and Sierra Leone, installed and operatedbyInternational Medical Corps during the 2014-14 outbreak. Itoffersto visualization options, one displaying the contributors ofeachpredictor in the model to the overall risk, and the theothershowing the most significant predictors and the treatmentoptionsavailable for each clinical sign/symptom.
