Essa nacque all’ombra della Casa MarianadiFrigento che sorse il 2 agosto 1970 ad opera di padre StefanoM.Manelli e padre Gabriele M. Pellettieri. La volontà diinstallareuna Radio (e poi anche una TV) fu dettata proprio dallospirito disan Massimiliano Kolbe, mentre la possibilità concretavenne poidalla legge che “liberalizzava” l’etere in Italia (1976),edall’accorrere in quella prima Casa Mariana di numerosegiovanivocazioni.All’inizio del gennaio 1979 cadde sul convento un terribilefulmineche bruciò ogni cosa e allora i frati iniziarono adinteressarsipresso ditte specializzate su come riprendere la Radioin modo piùefficiente. Così, dopo alcuni “mesi di gestazione”, laRadio BuonConsiglio, “riveduta e corretta” riprese le suetrasmissioni. Eraesattamente il 24 maggio 1978, giorno in cui lastatua dellaMadonna di Fatima pellegrina venne a visitare Frigentoe ilSantuario del Buon Consiglio; in quella occasione, l’alloraVescovodi Avellino, mons. Pasquale Venezia, benedisse i primi studiditrasmissione, e poi, al termine della Messa celebrata sulpiazzaledel Santuario, diede l’annuncio pubblico della “rinascita”di RadioBuon Consiglio.Riguardo a questo nome un po’ originale che fu dato alla radio,c’èda ricordare che all’inizio se ne proposero altri: RadioMariana,Radio Speranza. Alla fine, vinse l’attuale, Radio BuonConsiglio,preso dal titolo del Santuario della Madonna del BuonConsigliopresso cui sorgeva la Casa Mariana. Ed è stato un nomeriuscito egradito, forse perché un nome “religioso” (dalla Madonna)e “umano”(chi non ha bisogno di un “buon consiglio”?!).In seguito, la RBC è cresciuta di anno in anno, lentamentemadecisamente, fino ad avere circa 10 ripetitori e a coprirequasitutta la Campania toccando anche le regioni delle Puglie,Lucania,Lazio, Abruzzo.Radio Buon Consiglio ha anche un primato in ordine di tempo,nelsenso che è stata una delle prime radio cattoliche in Italia.Ècerto, comunque, che, specie all’inizio, molte nuoveemittentireligiose si rivolsero a Radio Buon Consiglio peravereregistrazioni di programmi da poter mandare in onda sulleloroonde, e tra di esse anche l’attuale conosciutissimaRadioMaria.Nel 2000 un altro fatto importantissimo ha segnato la storiadiquesta Radio. Vi è stata la fusione tra Radio Buon ConsiglioeRadio Speranza, una emittente cattolica della Puglia conredazionea Palo del Colle, gestita da Don Vito Raimondi. Alla suamorte DonRaimondi ha lasciato all’Istituto dei Francescanidell’Immacolatala proprietà e la gestione di tale emittente. In talmodo la RadioBuon Consiglio si è arricchita di ponti radio in tuttala Puglia eanche in alcune zone della Basilicata, allargando dimolto il suocampo di irradiazione. Oggi gli ascoltatori dellaPuglia, insieme aquelli della Campania, sono i più affezionati ecoloro checontribuiscono in maniera determinante al sostegno dellenumerosespese da affrontare. Successivamente le trasmissioni radiofoniche della RadioBuonConsiglio si avvalsero anche della piattaforma satellitareeraggiunsero tutta l’Europa attraverso il satellite.
