Solar 2D Live Wallpaper is an interactiveandscientifically accurate Android Live Wallpaper designed fortabletsand high resolution phones.

Unlike other space-themed wallpapers, Solar 2D Live Wallpaper isnot"eye-candy". Instead it uses 2D images of the planets and Suntosimulate relative position, speed, and size of orbitalbodies.Although 2D images are used, the underlying mathematicscomputepositions in all three dimensions. You can see, forinstance,Mercury rising above and falling below Earth's orbit (theecliptic)from the edge-on view.

You can interact with Solar 2D by touching individual planets toseta focus, touching the Sun to unset a focus, touching andsliding upor down to cycle through views, or touching and slidingright orleft to rotate views.

Scientifically accurate elliptical eccentricities (Kepler'sfirstlaw), points of aphelion and perihelion, inclinationsrelative tothe ecliptic, longitudes of ascending node, variableorbital speeds(Kepler's second law), and orbital periods (Kepler'sthird law). Allplanets (including the Moon, but not the Sun) havecorrect sizesrelative to other planets. All orbits (except theMoon) have correctsizes relative to other orbits. All orbitalperiods are correctrelative to the selected orbital period ofEarth.

Scientifically accurate stars, northern constellations,southernconstellations, and ecliptic (zodiac) constellations.

How to Interact with Solar Live:

Touch any planet to "fix" its relative angle to the Sun. Onceaplanet is "fixed", the rest of the solar system and thesurroundingstars will automatically rotate to keep it fixed. Touchthe Sun toun-set any fixed planets.

Touch and slide right or left to rotate the view.

Touch and slide up or down to switch between views:

bottom up view (slide down) edge on view (slide down) topdownview

View the inner solar system from top down, edge on, or bottomup.The southern constellations are visible from the top down view.Theecliptic (zodiac) constellations are visible from the "edgeon"view. The northern constellations are visible from the bottomupview.
