Description

Unofficial application to handle Wi-Ficonnectivity of your Android device. It takes into accountpreviously configured networks, on the one hand, and surroundingOrange and FreeWifi hotspots on the other hand (you must have validcredentials, see http://www.orange-wifi.com and https://wifi.free.fr):

- Automatically switch between different access points based onthe signal strength among surrounding Wi-Fi hostpots and previouslyconfigured networks. Ideal to prevent unwanted connections tonetworks that are malfunctioning or whose signal is too weak.

- Automatically authenticate to supported hotspots (if youprovide valid credentials).

The application is running in the background and doesn't requireany action from the user. It will connect the device automaticallyto the best Wi-Fi access point.

### Detailed description ###

Only the networks whose signal is greater than a given thresholdwill be taken into account. An Internet connectivity test is alsoperformed after the connection. If no effective connectivity isdetected after a given time, the current network is disabled andthe next one is tried. Note that the application doesn'tenable/disable the Wi-Fi connectivity of the device but only Wi-Finetworks. Regarding supported hotspots, the authentication ishandled in a transparent way if you provide valid credentials.

Here is the detailed algorithm used:

IF:
OR Wi-Fi scan done,
OR disconnection from the current network,
OR screen unlocked,
{
=> Get the list of surrounding Wi-Fi networks
=> Keep only the configured networks or supported hostpots
=> Keep only the networks whose signal is greater than thethreshold
=> Sort the networks based on the signal strength
=> Try the first one
=> If it's a hotspot, use the provided credentials
=> Check Internet connectivity
=> If the test is successful, it's done!
=> Otherwise, try the next network, or quit.
}

The application can try only 2 configured networks and 2hotspots each time (a total of 4 networks). When the process isfinished, the application is suspended for 5 seconds, even if theconditions are met. If no network is successfuly connected afterthe second try, the delay becomes 10 seconds, then 20, etc. to 5minutes max. This delay is reset after the first sucessfulconnection to a Wi-Fi network.
