The National Micro Entrepreneurs’ Federation Nepal (NMEFEN) is anot for profit membership organisation established in 2062 (2006)to promote the interests of micro entrepreneurs from ethnic,indigenous and economically disadvantaged rural communities acrossNepal. These micro enterprises are often based on traditionalskills and locally available raw materials, and are a means ofproviding sustainable livelihoods and generating self-employmentand income generation. The combined activities of the over 70,000micro enterprises in Nepal also supports the national economy.NMEFEN’s vision is to take a leadership role in strengthening themicro-enterprise sector, actively promoting the interests ofmicro-entrepreneurs so that the sector is highly regarded at alocal and national level for the important role it plays in povertyalleviation. There are 38 District Micro Entrepreneurs GroupAssociations (DMEGAs) affiliated with NMEFEN. Hence, NMEFENrepresents about 70,000 entrepreneurs in Nepal.
