The Federalist Papers are a series of 85 articles written insupportof the new U.S. constitution which replaced the very flawedArticlesof Confederation. Published under pseudonyms, authorsAlexanderHamilton, James Madison, and John Jay spelled out thereasons whythe new constitution should be ratified. According tohistorianRichard B.
