The concept and implementationWe, the makers of the Wimmel app, grew up with the famousWimmelbilderbücher, or “teeming picture books”. Because nowadayseven the very young are fascinated by new electronic media, theidea of transferring this valuable educational childhood memory toa modern medium practically suggested itself. This medium ischaracterised in particular by its tangibility and simplehandling.In implementing the Wimmel app we paid special attention to avery natural and “real” adaptation of the Wimmel pictures. Theillustrations were drawn and coloured by hand – in the goodold-fashioned manner.
