Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz as-Sudais (Arabic: عبد الرحمنالسديس‎ (ʻAbd ar-Rahman ibn ʻAbd al-Aziz as-Sudais Hanbali), born1960 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) is the imam of the Grand mosque inMecca, Saudi Arabia, a renown qāriʾ (reciter of the Qur'an), andwas the Dubai International Holy Qur'an Award’s "IslamicPersonality Of the Year" in 2005.

Al-Sudais has preached Islam's opposition to "explosions andterrorism",and has called for peaceful inter-faith dialogue,[6] butalso been sharply criticized for vilifying non-Muslims andespecially Jews in his sermons.[7][8] He has denounced thetreatment of Palestinians by Israeli settlers and the state ofIsrael, and called for more aid to be sent to Palestinians. He hasalso been noted for identifying women's un-Islamic behavior as inpart responsible for the winter 2006 drought in Saudi Arabia.
