Offer cheat codes for GTA games players whoarebored and wish to cause maximum carnage on the streets, andforthose who are simply too lazy to play the game properly. Cheatsareactivated by entering specific combinations of buttons onthecontroller, or by keying in words or phrases in the case ofPCversions. In Grand Theft Auto IV, cheats were activated bydiallingphone numbers on Niko's cell phone.

Cheats generally make the game easier to play, for examplebyrestoring Michael/Trevor/Franklin's health, bysupplyingammunition, or by removing police wanted levels. However,somecheats have interesting or unusual effects, and such cheatsareadded for comedic purposes, or to make the gameplaymoreexciting.
