Tokyo Ghoul (Japanese: 東京喰種トーキョーグールHepburn:Tōkyō Gūru?) is a Japanese dark fantasy manga series by SuiIshida.It was serialized in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine WeeklyYoungJump between September 2011 and September 2014 and hasbeencollected in fourteen tankōbon volumes as of August 2014. Asequeltitled Tokyo Ghoul:re began serialization in the samemagazine inOctober 2014 and a prequel titled Tokyo Ghoul Jack ranonline onJump Live.

A 12-episode anime television series adaptation by studioPierrotaired on Tokyo MX between July and September 2014. A12-episodesecond season, Tokyo Ghoul √A, which follows an originalstory,began airing on January 8, 2015, and concluded on March 26,2015. InNorth America, Viz Media is publishing the manga whileFunimationhas licensed the anime series for streaming and homevideodistribution. The anime was obtained by Madman Entertainmentfordigital distribution in Australia. As of June 2016, there wereover18 million copies of Tokyo Ghoul in circulation.
