The Mount Sinai Adolescent Health Center(MSAHC) was created more than 45 years ago specifically to serveadolescents by helping young people access the services they needto make responsible, informed decisions about their health care andtheir lives. Today, the Center stands as the largest and mostcomprehensive program of its kind in the country and as asuccessful model for other adolescent focused health care efforts.MSAHC offers a comprehensive array of medical, sexual andreproductive, and mental and dental health services, plusprevention, health education, and support services. Itsmultidisciplinary team of physicians, physician assistants,psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nutritionists, healtheducators and other health professionals strive to help youngpeople become full and responsible partners in their health care,which is demonstrated in the Center’s lower rates of teenpregnancy, substance abuse, untreated mental health issues, andlearning differences. In addition to core services, youth who cometo the MSAHC can also receive• Nutrition and wellness• Comprehensive dental care• Obesity prevention and eating disorder treatment• Substance-abuse prevention and treatment• Pregnancy prevention• Teen-parenting services - for teen parents and theirinfants/toddlers• Violence prevention and treatment - including crisis interventionand ongoing care for victims of sexual violence• Comprehensive services for HIV-positive and at-risk youth -medical care, mental health care, and support services• Legal services• Community outreach and school-based servicesThe MSAHC is finding ways to bridge the gap between the need for,and the delivery of, health care among teens. In addition toserving this important and diverse community through outreach,prevention, and intervention, the Center is also a national leaderin education, research, and advocacy on behalf of teens and theirwell-being.To that end, the MSAHC has recognized the need for a simple,confidential tool for teens and young people everywhere to getanswers to important and sensitive questions, manage theirreproductive health, and educate and inform decisions that affecttheir well-being, lives and relationships thru this easy to use andsimple app.With the MSAHC app, young people can:• Get important health and wellness information in a confidentialmanner from qualified, trained experts in adolescent medicine• Create a passcode protected profile as either a patient of theMSAHC or as a non-patient with access to all but the patientspecific features of the app• Ask a question and a qualified provider will respond to yourquestion within one business day• Keep or discard questions and answers - it’s up to the user• Create an anonymous name when asking questions - keep yourconversation private and anonymous• Get notifications related to health, wellness, events, andmythbusters including tips specific to teen parents and what toexpect when caring for an infant• Create medication reminders - either to take medication or get arefill.
